Then it is not a thought 'partner', because you are the only one thinking. It is a tool that is spitting out statistically probable language from which you can construct meaning.

I have programmed professionally, but I have spent the past decades in various roles in education. Yes, I'm in the classroom right now, but I also do other work in ed outside of the classroom.
Of course it is not a peer. Of course it is a tool. But the interactions are different than pointing and clicking through menus and search boxes to get helpful responses.
