Everyone on here needs to learn that it's a negotiation tactic. They will never see this high of tariffs because the countries will negotiate and lower them and come to a fair deal. Learn economics 101
The economy is gonna go into a recession, and by 2026, people will be out for blood. Democrats are gonna win in the primaries like it's Christmas in July. Just like in 2006. Every time republicans get full control, they fuck it up so bad the country litteraly BEGS for Democrats.
The goal of the tariffs has nothing to do with trade. It is to offset the debt created by massive tax cuts for the wealthy by getting the non-rich to pay a consumption tax to the government. Trump knows that he added $8 trillion to the debt last time, but this will cover his tracks a little.
Remember kids, no matter how horribly this upcoming trade war turns out, his followers will somehow try to blame literally anyone else but Trump for the fallout.

Every additional cent groceries cost the MAGAts will treat as a loyalty test they have to pass. You will hear either (i) its Biden/Harris's fault, somehow, or (ii) its actually somehow secretly a good thing
So do explain to me how is another country that we are implementing wide tariffs on are supposed to pay for stuff that we are buying from them? Because that's how Trump thinks they work.
"N-n-n-nuh-uh" is about all of the thought you MAGAts can say on this, huh? Did you remember to pick up your clown makeup from the store on your way home?
You can keep your head buried in the sand while reality comes and kicks you in the ass in the process. Without any negotiations with domestic companies or any reason to keep jobs here, they have zero reason to create them and keep them domestically.
Dude I've taken both micro and macro Econ course in college. Thing is with Trumps method, these are going to be long term and are not really going to create as many jobs due to there being no incentive to keep them here. And since we import a lot of goods from other countries, we are going to pay it
Difference is that Biden is actually negotiating with companies to bring back jobs and providing incentives to create and keep jobs here in the US. That's how they are supposed to work, whereas Trump believes that another country is paying for them and not companies who pass it off to consumers.
Well in a theoretical sense they're supposed to be short term by negotiating with the companies to maintain job levels in this industry on the domestic side and getting them to stay here and maintain reasonable prices on domestic finished products, then the tariff goes away over time. Again, theory
