As an artist, I've learned that the better you are at drawing something, the simpler your line work becomes. You would think that better=more complicated, but from my experience, the opposite is true. Simple descriptive lines are insanely difficult because they have to describe the shape within.

Though I also acknowledge I also love the insanely detailed animation of Hideaki Anno as well.
I guess, drawings should only have the complexity they absolutely need. And some drawings need insane detail. :)
The struggle of Line Divination when I'm unfamiliar with a subject always feels so demoralizing (see: me with flowers recently), but that's around the time I try to remind myself that inking is considered a highly technical skill for a reason.
Say .. draw the human figure .. you can draw anything . A bare elbow at the wrong angle cannot be disguised 😉

If the task is simple, they'll use less brain power.
Moreover, if they have a faint idea or don't know how, they'll use more and not remember how to do it unless it's been repeated.
(I work as a copywriter so I’m a little biased)
Gotta get good so you can be bad on purpose
learning how to make lines that don't *create* the shape you're looking for, but moreso *suggest* at the overall form
Impressionism really comes into play when you’re trying to convey the gist of something.
Summarising, even.
I wish I could express all my thoughts on this better, but I'm no good with words haha!
