This piece is like "some people say that RFK will destroy the public health system because he holds anti-science positions, but others find him a breath of fresh air" except it doesn't include the first part

Really, New York Times? Who are the people who say RFK Jr is a breath of fresh air besides you? He’s a heroin addicted, anti-vaxxer, anti-science fascist. Pretty sure I don’t want to breathe the same air as him.
You’re as big a joke as RFK Jr is. 🖕💙
I'm exaggerating, but only slightly. There is one paragraph about RFK reservations, and about 25 paras like the one on the right. I feel bad because the reporters look very junior, but this is the top story on the homepage now, so conveying the very real risks here seem important.
Unfortunately, the US "healthcare" system has screwed over way too many people with staggering medical debt & bankruptcy. I loathe RFKjr., so we are going from the frying pan into the fire.
Well put, but I'd personally phrase it as "adding acid to the frying pan". It's not like US healthcare will change in any material sense regarding costs or accessibility, it'll just start becoming more authoritarian and less scientific
We literally saved hundreds of thousands of lives with the COVID vaccine. There are a lot of problems with American healthcare but it delivers a lot of substantive good for people despite that.
Sure, absolutely, and that’s important to remember. I don’t think anyone in here is hating on public health professionals or epidemiologists, and I’m keeping the MD hate to myself for now ;). But I still think the financial setup is sufficiently bad to describe the whole thing as a “frying pan”
Compared to other developed countries, at least. We’re certainly beating the crap out of the past. Stupid old people in the past - Aristotle didn’t even know about germs!
Perfect example of the "feelings are fact" dynamic. Trust in scientists has been falling, which means scientists are doing bad and should be replaced (and punished...), regardless of whether that loss in trust was in any way justified. Identical to the "migrant crime" playbook :(
This is the same take as when NYT tells us about how many people poll as thinking the country is headed in the wrong direction. Then they make an assumption of what that means. Easy journalism but not very useful.

Also the NYT:
“…not so genuine and violent as it sounded…”

Instead, we get a bunch of anecdotes with random people. America is a big place, you can always find somebody which supports any position you want!
