I recently got the urge to run an #OSR megadungeon, and only this week settled on Knave 2e + Castle Xyntillan. I hadn't heard that about Castle Xyntillan - they are from Hungary, so don't hear that much from there. Could you elaborate? As for Questing Beast, I have seen he has questionable sponsors - is that what you refer to?

Re: Questing Beast, yes. It's his recent (and previous) platforming of bigots, and his weak non-apology.

I ummed and ahhed a bit about Questing Beast guy. But ultimately his "I don't want to get involved in the culture war" stance is a bit weak. Without wishing to Godwin this so early, it's kinda like the adage "If 9 people sit at a table with 1 nazi without protest, there are 10 nazis at the table".

I agree. He comes across as very milquetoast. I understand not wanting to be political from a business point of view, but then you should also avoid hanging around the few TTRPG creators that lack empathy for their fellows. Could some placating nature from when he was a teacher?

Yes, maybe. Or maybe years of playing D&D has left him thinking "I'm True Neutral" when, in reality, there is no true neutral, and things are more complicated than that.

Hopefully, with time, he'll reflect on it all and take a stand.

*Although I've heard a number of times that RPG products are generally under-priced, relative to the work that goes into them. So maybe it's a fair price after all.

Been prepping it for a while and my first session running will be next Saturday! For an amazing actual play of it (91 sessions so far) check out 3d6 Down The Line (a wonderful group of guys). It is a bit spendy but the PDF goes on sale fairly regularly on DTRPG and sometimes on Bundle of Holding.

And I considered Cairn (and ITO) but I'm not a fan of the combat system. I tried running Electric Bastionland, and the combat didn't sit well with me.
