Is common. Grief is part of the process when you realise you are autistic at a later age than normal. It sounds like you may have experienced this in some way with your BPD diagnosis?

Obviously autism can appear differently as we get older so researching more on adult autism is still beneficial...

But what is most important is how you feel about it. If you believe you have this, that is enough. I've had my diagnosis for 1 year (diagnosed at 34) and I'm still learning about it and about myself but it's made things clearer. Same with the BPD (diagnosed at 33). Do what's right for you...

If self diagnosis leads you to better understand yourself, your past, your relationships, all aspects of your life then it's worth it.
