If the changes in day length are permanent and not just little glitchy things, it could cause all kinds of trouble with satellite geolocation, navigation, and anything that depends on precisely known timekeeping.

Although it's interesting to speculate. I've always wondered what it'd be like when the magnetic poles flip. Maybe this is something related to that? We're coming due sometime in the next few hundred years, I think?

I could certainly picture fluctuations in a solid metal core causing changes to electromagnetic fields.
