Local pet store used to stock them (& they were always good bloodlines as every one we had from there lived 4 years on average) but they stopped selling them as did not turn around fast enough & nobody wanted older rats.

There are a ridiculous number of rescue rats over here, and a ridiculous number of those rescues are the result of pet stores mis-sexing the rats they are selling.

I haven't actually been in a pet store for decades, because I find it almost impossible to leave without taking all the rats with me!

That was a problem we had. When we would go there to get a pair of male rats (we only ever bought young males), we would end up leaving with all the males in the display! Thankfully we had plenty of large cages for them.
