I bet I’m the drunkest person emailing the superintendent of my kids school district right now telling him to do things that would get me suspended on Bluesky

A 10-mile, one hour bike ride is comparable to a 3-mile walk.
As I said, I was more interested in the <10 mile travelers. Normal walking distance to a school is around 1-mile, which is a 6-minute bike ride. 2-miles is 12-minutes. 3-miles 18-minutes. Etc.
If there's only one kid taking the bus every mile you travel from the school, they still get to take the bus to school. I'm all for reducing emissions, but "ride your bike" does not significantly mitigate the challenge of school bus route logistics. Also, rain and snow exist.
Severe bus driver shortage, encouraging more parents to drive their kids. Not my problem fucko, that’s a you problem. If you can afford an 18 million dollar athletic complex you can afford to pay bus drivers $20 or whatever transportation department was asking for.

More the thought is that those in the <10 mile radius should have the option and then buses can be sent out beyond

Bussing to school is commonly 45-minutes
For those less able, they should have access to bussing accommodations. Either way, this reduces the total demand on bus drivers
