I thought mainstream comics were also "Canadian guy with knives in his hands," "angry rich guy dressed vampire-like vs. a clown with a murder count requiring the Census Bureau," "Japanese comics about pirates," and "dog/human hybrid cop fights crime" (and the latter two outsell the first two)? 😀

He's definitely still around---along with the newspaper strip, there was a movie last year (Chris Pratt voicing Garfield and Samuel L. Jackson voicing his father). Paramount also bought the "Garfield" assets a few years ago, thus why he's in their Smash Bros. clone "Nickelodeon All Stars Brawl."
