There are definitely legitimate criticisms. Defaulting to no end to end encryption and using their own homemade protocol for encryption are both not great, but that would be just as much of a problem if Telegram wasn't Russian.
Use the real criticisms then, not the still repeated russian lie. They are not a russian company, they are not operated in russia, and the owner, while born in russia, is also one of those "arrested on sight" exiles from russia.
It's always a good idea to have a secondary option available, additionally, it's run by an NFT shill pro Trumper who throws dog whistles into announcements and whatnot. It's not the same as the government shutting down an app.

Yeah, well, bluesky doesn't fill official announcements with 1488 and other neo-Nazi dogwhistles either. Also it isn't great that telegram's servers are hosted in Russia with its totalitarian government
