From multiple sources, it was a misunderstanding in the beginning. The pilot was ruzzian but captain chinese. Does it matter? Same shit under different flag.

China has offered help in investigating the case. (Note: I don't trust that a criminal can help in investigating a crime, unless it leads to confessing the crime.)
