it's honestly been so long, i don't really remember but i think at least a little? but mostly implied in what we know of kuruk, tbh.

i enjoyed the politicking! i liked the depth it added to avatar but i think i came out of the book wishing that fc yee would write adult fiction instead tbh.

but omg the roku book is even worse than you think. it's not just bad bc roku sucks, it's 'how did anyone think this was good enough to publish' bad to me...... with some Worse Than Usual takes on colonialism

Yeah, the politics do build the world for sure. I think if what we learned from kuruk was "she was a politician"instead of what he said, I would have received the book better. But definitely agreed the politics do build the world.

"Adult fiction instead" I feel this way abt SO. MANY. YA. AUTHORS.
