Ricky's adorable!!! This was Finn yesterday. He has 6 weeks scheduled with his TPLO recovery package, but I think we're going to go 2x a week beyond that into Spring, just to help build his muscles up.

The cone of shame. I had 1 of the 3 dogs wearing one and he was in an octagon playpen to prevent him running around on his injured paw. Thanos decided to climb on a crate and jump into the playpen with Groot so that didn't work out.

This is such a good thing to do. I can tell you are a great dog person. I've slept on the floor with a dog in a cone before, so I appreciate it. The air mattress was a great idea, and you may just have to leave it.❤️🐩 All paws up!

We did it last winter too! He had his first TPLO surgery then. It's kind of cozy, and it's only for 3 or 4 months, until he's given the all clear to jump on the bed again. I'm thankful we both work from home, and can take turns working from the living room during the day.

Sounds like a good plan. One of my dogs had to have TPLO. Is this the second surgery on the same leg?
My dog was going to do agility but after that operation we both retired from classes. He didn't miss it! It healed fine btw. I hope yours has a speedy recovery!❤️💐🐩

So glad yours healed well! No, he had surgery on his left leg last year after he tore his CCL. A couple vets did warn us many dogs will tear their other leg within a year or two. So when he started limping after getting up, and toe tapping we knew the signs and brought him in to be looked at.

My boy had two TPLOs several years apart. After the first one, he swam every week. After the second, he did the water treadmill. You’d never have known he’d had surgeries. Best of luck for your pup!

When my senior dog tore her ACL and wasn’t a candidate for surgery I moved a mattress into the living room for a month but then installed a stair lift for her so we could go upstairs. She rode it like a queen!

That’s a big surgery I went through it with several dogs - it’s painful - we would give chicken baby food to help get meds down - it’s hard to keep them from wanting to move too fast - easy does it 🤗🙏

We had never even heard of this surgery until he had to have one last year! (This is his 2nd). The baby food is a great idea. Yes, he wants to go for walks, and run, and we're like noooo. So we keep him busy with puzzle games, and stuff like that. He started underwater treadmill now to.
