We start with Chairman Comer's opening statement, who begins by highlighting the drop in border apprehensions over the last month, claiming that Biden could have achieved similar results at any point if he wanted to, and touting Trump's policies in general.

Moving to so-called "Sanctuary policies," Chairman Comer says that sanctuary policies only protect "criminals."

Studies have shown that this is false. For example, a study in 2020 showed that such policies only reduce deportations of people with NO criminal record.

Comer highlights a few individual anecdotes of people who were release by local law enforcement officials who then went on to commit a crime.

Notably, if those individuals had been US citizens, it would have been completely unlawful to continue to hold them in jail past release dates.

Moving on to the Dem Ranking Member Connolly. He begins by saying that "every member here today" agrees that violent criminals should be punished and held. He then pivots immediately to the Eric Adams scandal, saying DOJ engaged in a "flagrant corrupt quid pro quo."

Adams will draw much fire today.

I called our police department to thank them for refusing to use our tax money for something we already paid federal tax for. This is what they understand, not appeals to decency.
