Well, fwiw Val Kilmer got me into them! How I missed them throughout my life, I don't know! I knew the tune to Break On Through by osmosis, it would appear, everyone knows Light My Fire (but as much by José Feliciano!) & I remember hating People Are Strange as the theme song to the Lost Boys.

My introduction to them was my brother's cassette of the 1972 compilation 'Weird Scenes Inside the Gold Mine'. Listening to that, in bed in the dark, for the first time when I was about 12. It remains one of those "I wish I could go back to hearing that for the very first time moment" moments.

I've come all the way back round to loving them. My parents played them lots; I inferred they were uncool, so abandoned them. I was daft! Also" the people who get them! I love them too!
