I'd imagine in the same way an alien "Mother ship" is used; it means that it is the origin of other "lodes" or veins, and other "ships." According to Wikipedia, "The term probably came from a literal translation of the Spanish 'veta madre', a term common in old Mexican mining."
Of course, I think there is a lot of undue resentment against the power mothers have, unconsciously. Even children understand it intuitively, it's why it's fairly common for children to verbally attack another child's mother so as to antagonize or bully.
Ah the patriarchy is a global epidemic; this resentment for the feminine knows no bounds. I also think the patriarchy feeds into toxic masculine traits; which also can be found globally as well.
Kids can and will be cruel; it's part of their exploration of the self, good and ill. We must be there to guide them away from behaviors that are adversarial to themselves and their peers so they can carry the torch of humanity forward unimpeded by generational prejudice.
