Their point as I understand it is not that climate change is not a factor, but rather that just saying "this is because of climate change" is not helpful. Poverty is a well-established root cause of crime, but if I were actively being robbed, I would be looking for pragmatic and actionable solutions

Agreed, we need to think here and now also.

The short term corrective action is to evacuate if you are told to do so, but that's not what the original post was looking for.

It was looking to tell us that it's no use for society to try and fight climate change.

That isn't what their post said. They said marginal reductions aren't enough. My understanding is that this is true, it requires large-scale collective action to achieve, which is not a pragmatic solution to the immediate problem, although it needs to be done.

Are there any resources related to this? No help is coming, and so we basically need to solve all of these various problems which governments were claimed to help, without the solutions only helping the wealthy. I feel like I've been in cs land too long and don't have a good perspective on this

Rising temperatures have increased the likelihood for fires all over the world.
Indeed, small reduction won't change that in the short term, but it will get way worse if we continue as we do.
