My RCA XL-100 36 and 1/2 year old CRT TV in my bedroom seems to have died tonight. It's missing most colours and text menus are unreadable. I have several other 20" CRT TV's in the basement. The problem is, I'm sick as a dog ATM. So no TV until I feel better! - ThreadSky

Looks like it lost the luminance part of the signal, and all you are seeing is the chroma.

It did that for 3 minutes two nights ago and came back to normal but last night, the problem appeared again and never stopped. I just did enough tests to make sure it wasn't something else. It's the TV.

R.I.P. my first and only TV I ever bought new.

Too late to check unfortunately. I've cut off the power cord, and it's heading to the recycling centre. I replaced it with a 20" CRT Sony Trinitron my chiropractor gave me in 2019.

I still need to reach behind the TV and make sure it's not the coaxial adapter that broke or came loose, but it's very hard to reach ATM.
