Democracy is dying at the root, and all we have power to do is "like". The entire information system we exist consumes democracy like yesterday's leftover and convinces us we're freer than ever.

Someone is probably writing a PhD on social media reducing political
pushback against authoritarians because the dopamine hit from writing a snarky social media post overrides the impulse to take further concrete real world action.
I hope they publish it soon.
Strong agree! We should be building CERN for collective intelligence but it isn't clear where the resources would come from. Working on this @cosmik.network , happy to collaborate if relevant.
You raise an interesting issue. When people get angry, we naturally want to convert that emotion into action. But does our world of instant gratification result in the same level of results? I've always wondered about the impact of gaming in a similar way.
True in some sense - but is democracy *supposed* to be anything more than voting & communication? I would say we still do both, what we may be lacking is the teeth when democracy is threatened. For that I think the bar has been moved - but it's not gone.
I think there are still plenty of opportunities to shape the world around us. Running for office, or building the reach of your personal voice on your platform of choice. Both take time & focus. Sadly, this results in fewer working class people pursuing them...

And your work echoes far beyond here. Cheers.
