I have been thinking about trying some mods because of Mantella. It taps into LLMs like ChatGPT so that most NPCs can have unique dialogs with you. They remember your interactions, too, so there are some interesting immersion opportunities!

The SimonMagus gameplay overhaul mods are always a must use for me! Adamant for the perk tree changes and Mysticism for it's magic changes especially, but all his mods help improve and expand on the base game imo!

And have you used Starfrost? I like the idea of survival without the tedium!

Unfortunately I haven't used Starfrost yet - I had a different survival mod before it came out, so I've been waiting to start a new game to try it out!

But I hear it works really well with his other mods like his Gourmet cooking overhaul.

Sorcerer is the last one I used a lot as I was doing a College Archmage play through using staves and staffs, which Sorcerer/Mysticism together makes a lot more viable and interesting than the base game!

That's awesome, thank you! It'll be tough deciding which to use. I usually go with Frostfall/Campfire, but I do end up turning it off at various points (usually in the seas near Winterhold) so I can get things done without dying of hypothermia lol.

ALL the quest expansions by JaySerpa, and pretty much all his other mods too. Also Nimwraith does a bunch of cool quests that are all deep conversations, a nice change from the typical "go here kill stuff" type of quest.

"Unmarked Locations Pack" seems like a nice hidden gem, I rarely see it mentioned but when I'm out wandering I LOVE seeing something and thinking "Oh hey that's new". I also like "Lux Via" for this, gives a lot of heart to the roads and bridges, makes them feel built up over a very long time.

Dac0da just came out and is a prequel to the Vigilant trilogy, haven't played through this one yet but it's by vicn and apparently quite good. Deep dive into the weirder parts of TES lore.

Also I'd check out ZeroPeriodProductions and just download every quest mod he has a playlist of - he's covered a lot of good stuff I rarely see mentioned elsewhere, and you could thumb through the videos to see if it's your kind of thing.

JaySerpa has pretty much singlehandedly solved the "only path through this quest is NOT what I would do" problem. It's amazing :D

- You don't have to side with Molag Bal
- You don't have to slutshame Haelga
- You have alternatives to killing Grelod
- And of course he has a Paathurnax mod too

That sounds AMAZING. Especially with the daedric prince quests! I've run through them before, but honestly stopped because I felt so guilty in doing things like siding with Molag. 😂

Shadow of Skyrim is amazing – dumps you somewhere with no equipment and marks the thing that killed you as a miniboss when you die, creating incentive not to reload.

I used to run 200+ mods, and would spend DAYS modding, adjusting load order, etc.

I'm familiar with the standards (Sky UI, JK's cities, Inigo, Lucien, Frostfall, patches, immersive armors/npcs, cutting room floor, Bruma, etc).

I'd love to see what people are excited about in recent years though!

And of course... the BEST game I've ever played, which I call a game in and of itself, but really it was a total conversion mod for Skyrim.

After Skyrim, Highly, HIGHLY recommend diving into Bauldurs Gate 3. It's SO GOOD. You can mod it to bring your whole party with you. It's great.
