Definitely not feeling bad about the likelihood of being denied entry. I do worry about those already there and what might happen to them. That's the bigger worry. Besides, why would I want to spend my money in a country like that?

You should be able to come to the United States if you'd like. You should be free to.

You're right about that. I agree. I just don't see it as a place I need to go. I've had the chance to see a good chunk of the world and haven't felt like I missed out not seeing the US.

Being free to travel and see the world is an opportunity all should have. Travel can educate as well.

I am seriously, seriously having a difficult time processing that other people are unable to come here, solely because of who they are.

It's hard to learn how much of a monster your country truly is.

I can understand that. I saw pieces of it decades ago. I heard racism and bigotry growing up near the Montana border. I've not been in the US since 2000. I was an average, well educated Canadian and heard things to make you cringe. Now, everyone is seeing what was under the surface.

So they looked up who he was and then denied the Visa, because just looking at the paperwork on their end would never indicate they were trans. Foreign government passports don't say transgender on them so this is discrimination, plain and simple.
