We should do this every first Tuesday of every month. Shop local. Especially not using cable tv would be huge because advertisers’ heads would spin. Use the internet instead of cable networks for news and info. Anyway, an idea.
DONT WAIT: AVOID BUYING NEW THINGS WHENEVER POSSIBLE.
* Can you fix it instead?
* Can you find it at a thrift store?
* Is there a DIY option that cuts out Walmart, Ebay or Amazon?
Quarterly earnings will drop and we'll quickly see that billionaires have bosses too: shareholders.
Guys, please. I'm getting really tired of explaining this.
Consumption, not purchasing, is what makes an impact. Example: instead of not buying gas on Tuesday, don't use the gas instead. If you are still consuming, then you still buy just as much on another day. Literally no impact made.
You're right of course wrt big picture, and we should consume less as a lifestyle but perhaps the intention here is to disrupt flow of cash and stocks? I would expect businesses to optimise these for smoothness and consistency - sudden interruptions, spikes troughs etc may be disruptive?
But it doesn't disrupt anything. If it was a week or a month, then it would, but they have already proven that prices will increase to cover any losses they may incur.
Ok, well this then is your objection, and fair enough, it's substantial — though I wonder if it is perhaps hasty altogether to dismiss the value of symbolism alone?
I'm all in on this, shut everything down, buy nothing, not even chewing gum, we will dictate this economy not that vile putrid oozing orange turd, we the people will win but it's not gonna be easy, nothing worthwhile is 👌💙🥂
Buy absolutely nothing for 3.9 years is my plan. No vacations other than blue states and foreign countries. I may need some vehicle repairs but thats it. F this place.

There are alternatives including ordering directly from manufacturers / sellers. Buy Local! They appreciate your business.
