The mainstreaming of ideas about airborne transmission is coming, but I think will take 5-10 years to fully supplant current medical and public health dogma. If we can implement that knowledge it will make a real difference. And of course mRNA tech shows that we can make vaccines very fast - ThreadSky

I think that 5-10 years is optimistic. We're not lacking in the technological know-how to push things forward really fast--it's, as you point out, the mindset. It took 30 years from the discovery that cholera was waterborne to when governments began to build large-scale water treatment plants.

Also, apparently 5-10 years to find a cure for "brain fog"...In the meantime, maybe the cumulative brain fog and airborne-transmission mainstreaming will cancel each other out.

But you’ve now got a burned out and underfunded public health workforce, political people in top jobs in public health, and an antagonistic public. The idea that we don’t have to care if a disease kills people who are not your immediate family members has been mainstreamed.

Agreed. People are hesitant to vaccinate their pets! Trying to get large swaths of the population to buy in on public health measures would be very tough.

I’m mulling over whether to contact my dental clinic after my dentist decided it was safer for me to not have my annual exam because of COVID risk in the clinic. This after the clinic emailed us, saying protocols had been enhanced. But when I went, masking was spotty & some filters tucked away.
