just insane. Reviewing a paper on covid in Canada that finds an 11-fold increase in risk of hospitalization in the month after infection. Just absolutely bonkers. I've been doing respiratory virus epi for a long time, and we really don't trade in statistics like "relative risk = 11"

This paper found 3-7 times higher rate of all-cause hospitalization within 30 days after flu (in an older population).
Hope the new paper also looks at flu as a comparator.

Scientifically, a 5% change in sth is relevant. A 1000% change is extremely high.
Seems like it’s not being taken seriously any longer.
