I don't see how details like the year of analysis or method of ascertainment is any more sensitive than reporting the topline result (OR = 11). But if that's the case, I understand.

That seems larger than flu.
This paper found 3-7 times higher rate of all-cause hospitalization within 30 days after flu (in an older population).
Hope the new paper also looks at flu as a comparator.

In the first month it wouldn’t be. It’s just complications from covid. Having had covid in the past month wouldn’t increase your risk of (another) covid infection specifically, but would dramatically increase your risk of post-covid issues.

Will be interesting to see the causes. In my own N = 1 case, I nearly cut my finger off the month post-Covid which I attribute to insomnia caused by the virus. Still have a large scar, went to ER, and half of the top of my finger is numb

Yeah, that's not the actual message, I think, it's 11 times more likely, a pretty small number, to be hospitalized in the month following, but the effect is glaring...? Probably best to mask for a while afterward,or before...?

Only 11 times as likely to end up in hospital shortly after COVID is not a small number. Imagine if a plane crash or car accident were 11 times as likely, would you still fly/drive?
Scientifically, a 5% change in sth is relevant. A 1000% change is extremely high.

I'm in a CC FB group where every couple of days there's a new discussion of which drugstores currently have any. It's disturbing that any special knowledge is required. All drugstores should have tests, preferably more sensitive tests on-site as well as RATs to take home.

It's stunning. I remember 20 years ago when a pain med was taken off the market because it caused a 0.5% increase in heart attacks. An 11x increase is a 1,100% increase in risk. It's just bonkers.
