Too much fluoride while teeth are growing can cause dental fluorosis…which causes the outer enamel layer to have white flecks, spots, or lines. In general, this only happens in young kids as their permanent teeth come in. Older children, teens, and adults do not get dental fluorosis. 3/n
Excess consumption of fluoride can also cause skeletal fluorosis or abnormal hardening of bone as well as calcification of tendons and ligaments, and bone deformities. 4/n
Some studies have suggested a possible association between high levels of fluoride in drinking water and osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, in boys under 19. But no clear association has been established, and the evidence for a causal link has not been confirmed. 6/n
