I think the most modern one is the kitty corner device which I'm pretty sure basically just works by actually having a small rifle on a hinge on the front and I think that one works
The concept dates at least to WWI though, to have a periscope and a "detached" trigger mechanism to allow you to shoot the gun around a corner (or in that case over the top of the trench) without exposing yourself
Yeah but the IDF version is much worse, it's like a swinging bulky rig, size of a big rifle, that lets you shoot a... 9mm pistol. Which you have to provide separately.
