It's a masterpiece that would not be financially realistic these days. It's a part of music history that will always be recognized as possibly the last stand for producers that just sampled whatever they found and got away with it. I miss those days.

I found a VG+ double gatefold copy at a pawn shop in the mid 90s and paid like a buck for it (golden era for cheap ass vinyl). My surprise when I've seen that very version going on Discogs for like 300-400 times more 😰

It was a HUGE leap. But having the Dust Brothers produce your shit definitely makes a difference. Beck blew the fuck up after Odelay came out. Not taking away from their own skills, but great producers definitely help.
