To be fair the benefits system is unfair, but not in the way Starmer talks. It’s unfair on thousands of disabled people who are refused the support they need and are entitled to. It’s unfair carers get penalised for caring. What is indefensible is MP’s pay rises, freebies, expenses claims etc.
Keir. The cost of social care is going through the roof because we have been living with austerity, inflation and wage cuts for 15 years. It is unsustainable. Your policies will just make it worse. Are you stupid?

A Labour government to the right of Cameron and Osbornes’ life destructive austerity government. The ‘soft left’ and right wing socially conservative Tories that have given them power.
Stop skipping around the edges Zak. Talk to and unite with socialist movements and be a real electoral force because
that is what the country needs to stop Starmer setting the foundations for a far right UK government in 2029.
Get around the table. The right have Labour, Tories, Lib Dems and Reform fighting for the same voters. It is time to organise for 2029. The Greens and socialists need a catalyst….unite.
What’s ’unsustainable, indefensible and unfair’ is failing to invest sufficiently in tackling tax avoidance, tax evasion and poor tax collection (and additional options for the super-wealthy) while punching down on the most vulnerable. Sure tidy up the system but tax is where the big bucks are 📌📌=££
This is so vile. And for what? So Starmer can attempt to appeal to mealy mouthed folks who won't ever vote Labour anyway? Jeez, a huge majority and a public desperate for change and rebuilding the country, and this is all he can come up with?
That's great! Although a word of warning - NHS messaging can be bittersweet for disabled people. It has become part of the "death by bureaucracy" machine that we experience daily.
Messaging should be focused on progressive healthcare with a clear vision to improve provision for patients.
Preferably including us in the msging talking about the barriers we have to care. It would be really cool to see a conversation between a patient and someone who works at the NHS bonding over the frustration. Often there's conflict there because they are rushed and we've been on hold for an hour.
Unfortunately not. I'd love to get stuck in on the ground.
I live in the shining example of centralised NHS bureaucracy which is Cambridgeshire! addenbrooks/papworth/Cambridge biomedical campus frustrates my life beyond comprehension 😅
It’s been shown to be cost neutral to do away with means tested income related benefits and replace it with UBI at that level. It would wipe out administration costs and replace the spend on money that would be pumped back into the economy. Tax can be adjusted for earners getting it as well.
Isn't there a statistic somewhere comparing how much the state loses through wealthy people evading tax, compared to benefit fraud? I know intuitively the rich are much worse, but I'm sure I read an actual figure once.
Quite. They’ve certainly lost any link to their founding ideology. Indefensible. Any ‘cracking down’ on the poor, vulnerable and disabled. Sickening. I wish, just once (even), they’d put the shoe on the other foot.
Yeah, not too keen on their push for more war in the Ukraine. Excellent education and environment policies of course. They’ll probably get my vote again.
We aren't pushing for more war in Ukraine. Russia should leave Ukraine, and Ukraine has the right to defend itself. Putin could end the war tomorrow. All he has to do is to order withdrawal
Still not made clear by Labour Party MPs if those who are disabled and receive benefits as a result of injuries inflicted in the Armed Forces are being vilified.
Can we have a headcount of MPs who are happy to vote for war and expect injured service personnel to resign themselves to poverty?
How about instead of obsessing over cuts, we start taxing the wealthy sensibly? Their wealth is extracted from the human labour of this country. They should be paying to maintain people when they are unable to work.
I agree the benefit system is unfair and indefensible.
MPs on £85k+ getting £100ks in subsidies.
Multimillionaires and billionaires paying as little as 10% tax due to loop holes and "incentives".
Disgusting.

Thatcher would have been SO proud of them!
Section 28, remember?
Make it a referendum on morality.
The demographics of the seat make it fertile ground for a good campaign putting PIP as a key issue!

There's been no impact assessment done on these proposed cuts. Just as there was none for the WFA.
Health & Disability benefits equate to 1% of total Govt spending.
1% is a rounding error for a Govt that spends &1.23trn per year
#Vile
I was suggesting that KS maybe more focused on cost/speed than impact assessments
This needs to be a wake up call.
