cards decks did have 56 cards at one point, due to there being a "knight" between the jack and queen
also the jack (knave) card refers to commoners in general so it technically counts

Oh don’t know about Scoundrels, that sounds neat. But as I understand it there was always contention between Knave & Jack until we started printing letters on the cards. They chose Jack over Knave as to not share a K with King.
