Does anyone else get a salt/savory food craving when a migraine comes on? Spent afternoon taking meds and doing significant damage to the household supply of peanuts and pretzels.

Yep. Chronic migraines since I was a teen ... and salt cravings have long-been one of the (many) odd forewarning symptoms that has been pretty consistent over the decades.
Sometimes I find salt helps and yes, I crave it. One of the more successful cures I tried is miso with nori. The other cure that has the same success rate for me is home made chicken soup. Probably for the same reason, electrolytes.
I don't get the painful migraines anymore. But I do get aura migraines. I usually end up drinking a ton of water and then laying down in a dark room for an hour or so.
I’ve had a degree of relief from migraines by drinking Gatorade previously, and I know pickle juice also helps - and both of those are very electrolytes heavy.
Saltines and Gatorade. And total blackout curtains. Or failing that, I have these flimsy pillows with black fabric that can cover the face without putting pressure on the eyes, (which of course would be the pain of death.)
My brother craves bottle coke a cola when migraines happen and it happened enough that its a super clear indicator when one is impending. So, I could see the salty thing being legit!
That might be an indicator that you need magnesium. Celtic salt has 4 different magnesiums. If you have pink Himalayan salt, you can use that too. Sprinkle some crystals on your tongue before you drink your water.
I do and also when I am stressed out.
I read somewhere a few years ago that apperently crunchy food too like pretzels and chips help regulate cortisol levels.(?)
YES. I eat soda biscuits and chicken broth. French fries are ideal, but Pringles are a close second. I keep emergency gatorade. I am not a caffeine during a migraine person, I am SAAAAAALTs.
Not even water stays down in the height of a migraine, but I absolutely crave salt either before or after. Specifically, only saltine crackers. It's the only thing that (usually) stays down.

(But this post made me want to eat walnut and almond cereal! 🥜🐿️)
