Doesn't really answer the key of the question, what would you increase the ticket by? Ticket + accommodation for a weekend + travel + taking the 2/2.5 days off life (family, kids, pets) is already a strain for a lot of attendees, I don't expect much support for "and extra 10gbp so I can get paid".

A couple of things to say. 1, there is a risk of coming across a little entitled. 2, what about the strain on the organisers? No one is expecting 50 people to pay an extra £10 so the organiser can make a cheeky £500. A small hrly rate, close to any crappy job. Why is that so hard for people?

Half of the events I do, I’m
compensated for. OTTD events I’m not personally compensated for, but OTTD is a registered charity, and “profits” are distributed to good causes rather than paying the TO staff, and that suits us.

I absolutely believe that TOs should be compensated for their time.

You are pricing yourselves too low. Obviously cross-country price comparisons don’t work well, but I would expect to pay $150 to attend such an event.

And thanks for the input. Tbh, if we earned more it seems people in the community would complain harder cos there would be even more risk that organisers might get a reasoanable fee.

Aside from the fact you are 100% right, there is another contentious issue and that is about whether or not its ok for people running an event to be paid in addition to reinvesting in said club. People seem to be saying all money should go into future events or the club, ie. no one can be paid.

To be clear I personally would much rather see TO's get paid, and in my area, we have few venues that let you run events at sensible prices and still make worth keeping amount of money. But when you go to more expensive areas it just seems to stop mathing.

We happen to have found a reasonably priced venue, so that’s the only reason we are even having this conversation. And we are talking about small event. Running events in costly town centre event venues for profit is gross.
