Probably already on your short-list, but I'd say: the Mémorial in Caen, La Pointe du Hoc, Arromanches les Bains and the American cemetery. Everywhere along the coast is all about D-Day so you'll have many small museums in each town, many cemeteries (Canadian cemetery), etc.
