My character became an esper basically by accident through collecting enough Sultan relics that grant powers, and is otherwise a martial build, so every time an Esper Hunter shows up and goes "I challenge you to a mind duel!" I charge at them with eight arms full of sharp implements and it's over.
Haha, this sounds a lot like my current run. I gave up on an esper run because I had the defect that randomly summons spacetime vortices and it was a mess. Started a horns/high strength build, low ego. Kept getting +ego relics, so now I'm headbutting esper hunters every other zone.
