and of course, my sympathy VERY rarely extends to people who voted for Brexit and then moan about the impact of... Brexit. The NFU supported Brexit. They need to own that disaster first.

So the issue is figures: OBR and IFS say less than 500 will be affected by it based on 20/21 figures. NFU put the figure much higher like 23% of all farmers.
Then there’s the issue of being asset “rich” (the sale value of farm land) versus the lack of liquidity in terms of cash given the margins that many are working on. Careful inheritance planning may take the sting out of it but not guaranteed.
