it's a flu. there'll be a vaccine. idiots will not take it. the flu will spread. millions of vulnerable people will die. the idiots will blame the vaccine.
I’m hoping there will be multiple choices, including one that’s mfg, packaged and shipped from another country. I don’t trust anything vaccine coming from this Admin.
Hard to say, but I don't think it will be soon. After all, there has been a vaccine for dogs against Lyme disease for years, but still none for humans.
Putting health and well-being as any kind of priority is not this administration's strong suite, especially if your in a state that would happily form Canada's sprawling 11th province (aka blue states).
Bird flu is like 67% fatal in cats & fuck, hearing about house mice in Washington with it when my dear Hermana is a hardcore mouser & we live in Oregon is terrifying!
I don’t think there will be anything vaccine related coming from them anyway.
Unless the other country is Europe it’s bad news anyway.
Russia and India both developed Covid vaccines and they were the least effective of the bunch
I believe Canada just purchased 500k vaccines for stockpile from Glaxo Smith Kline. I believe H5N1 will respond to antivirals like tamiflu and relenza if taken in first 48 hours of sx onset so that’s a positive.
I have heard that we have one, but it is evolving too quickly to stockpile any certain version for any certain strain. 🤷♀️ I will try to find the article on it.
There's good cross-reactivity, though. The issue is just the manufacturing capability, and Kennedy seeks to ban mRNA vaccines but the conventilnal method relies on... eggs.
No need. The new and improved CDC will instruct you on how to eat healthier, drink raw milk and center your chakras with the official Trump Crystal™ (89.95 + tax & shipping)
The only tragic silver lining: Blue states had far, far lower COVID deaths than red states. Because we maybe give a shit about people and basic science.
The U.S. maintains a national stockpile of H5N1 vaccines intended for emergency use in case of an outbreak. These vaccines are not commercially available and are reserved for specific high-risk situations.
Okay okay okay. that's something. And with funding paused I figured it would just kind of... stay there. or they'll have to take it upon themselves to continue the work. idfk
well he can take a vaccine if he wants & lie about it.the rest of us won't have the luxury of a vaccine. remember frump almost died from covid. he took the vaccine before it was readily available (i believe). lied about how sick he was. so they & their families are covered 👍
Well, the new person in charge of healthcare is a vehement anti-vaxxer. So not as good as if we had someone who actually believed in science (and cared about people other than his rich white friends) in power.
We have flu vaccines. They are actually pretty good at making specific vaccines. The seasonal vaccine is a guessing game (albeit a fancy math based one) but something like a dangerous flu wouldn't be.
Problem is rollout, testing, and people in charge not screwing us and since RFK... yeah screwed
Not as good without information from WHO and China - they get the flu before us and we use that info for a shortcut for our annual flu vaccines. We’ll be starting from scratch without communications between the CDC, NIH and other global partners.
Apparently there is everything need to create this vaccine from decades of research and other H1 viruses. I was just reading about it yesterday. It would depend then on the government to make it happen, sooooooo.
Is there any way to estimate the timeline to a human pandemic at the rate it’s moving up the chain? Also, I think I read this virus is much more easily transmitted and a much higher fatality rate in even young and previously healthy people than Covid as well. Is that true?
Vaccines just copy the virus (minus the dangerous parts) so we can train the body how to handle these covid virus ( viruses that begin in animals and mutate until they can live in humans). Exactly what your immune system does when it gets the actual virus (if you live thru it).

the one Canada just stocked up on is an older style that was approved a decade ago but updated for the 2025 version
Cheers 🍻
The question is, will we be allowed access to it?

I’m no fancy science man but I’d think if they have one for poultry a human version can’t be far behind? 🤞

any non-rich American? Probably not :(
The owners refuse to use it, for fear other countries won’t import their livestock products
