I told him if he passes out on my watch, he can LAY there, because I am not playing this game. I also told him he has to stop being snappy with mom just because he's feeling shitty & tired, because then *I* will take over as his nurse and he won't like me nearly as much. This was all before 7:10am.

YES! Years ago my ex mil called (my ex & I were still married at the time) just chatting about her day, at the end MENTIONING that ex fil was in the hospital. WTF! (We all lived in the same city.) Apparently he had a heart attack & they didn’t want to bother us!

I read them the riot act! (My ex did not do anything, add it to the list of why he’s an ex.) I told them that after 911 they need to call us! Completely stoic boomers, who didn’t want to “bother their son”. 🙄
Sometimes managing them was harder than managing my kids.

It's fun that our parents were raised to suck it up & bury their feelings. Because then, when you have a dad who straight-up has anxiety triggered by a loss of control but doesn't realize that or know how to channel the anxiety into healthier outlets, you get to tell him to stop being a snappy jerk.
