Yeah I think he mistyped, it’s an increase of like 21M per year. But when you consider that most people in the know on this thought the amount per season would actually decrease from the last deal, any increase (however modest) is decent news I think

Main change is from Sky to DAZN for the popular Saturday Konferenz but Sky gets back the Friday night games. DAZN keeps all of Sunday. RTL takes over from Sport1 as co-broadcaster (with Sky) of Sat late 2. Bundesliga.
Importantly for people without pay channels, ARD & ZDF keep Sat evening highlights

DAZN has Konferenz, but if you have multiple screens at home you can kinda work around that with just Sky. And the 2-3 Sunday games only DAZN has, listen to them on the radio & catch the highlights later, or go to a bar maybe.

If you care about Champions League/Europa/etc., getting DAZN too makes sense. But if you just care about the BL and 2BL, Sky alone gives you like 90% of what you want by itself.

If you’re not in Germany, none of this impacts you so it might seem meaningless. But worth pointing out that in many territories, the Bundesliga is available at a considerably lower price all on 1 platform. Here, German viewers need multiple platforms.

It's like the NFL here in the US, which spreads games across cable TV, DirecTV Sunday Ticket, ESPN, Amazon Video, Twitter, etc. Meanwhile all Bundesliga games (save lesser 2. Bundesliga matches) are on Hulu. Ironically it's easier to watch Bundesliga games here than in Europe.

Wow, had no idea. Here in 🇺🇸 the German Bundesliga might just be the easiest ⚽ to follow: BuLi, Pokal games all on ESPN+, every game streaming on demand or replay. For UCL, you just need Paramount+, and these are both relatively cheap services (vs. cable)

Easier/cheaper than the NFL, even.

And the final point is several analysts speculated that the overall income might be less than before. That it’s an increase is a big positive for the DFL. Domestic rights are a big driver of things here along of course with fans going to games on a large scale.
