Copernicus and Berkeley’s analysis suggests that we not only surpassed 1.5 C but that we hit 1.6+C. NASA & NOAA concluded that we hit 1.47 C and 1.46 respectively. 🧵

Where was this in the news cycle? Buried before movie reviews? Or not mentioned at all? Meanwhile, LA fires are decimating entire neighbourhoods. Not saying there is a definite link, but…maybe there is? Why are climate stories buried?

I have been curious as to how CBC management decides on what/how many climate articles to publish. I've become quite cynical of their claim that their journalism has changed (significantly enough). BTW, your article didn't show up on the online news portal until mid day or later.

Whether or not we hit the 1.5 C mark (for 1 year, not to be confused with the Paris Agreement of decades), this should be top of mind for everyone. Sure, LA is seeing devastation. But what about the droughts and floods in Africa and South America? What about the deadly heatwaves around the world?

I get how another record year of warmth can be tiresome. But we need to make these stories take centre stage. Climate change is here and is devastating millions of people around the globe. Stop making these stories fluff.
