What was that baseline psychology lesson they always use.

"The stronger you react to something, the more likely there is an underlying issue." If you really dislike something, you're more likely to ignore and avoid than go shouting about it. So yea, I'll agree definately something to this

It's sad because people like that are directly responsible for making the world such that they themselves feel uncomfortable and afraid of questioning their sexuality, which leads to the aggressive homophobia that stems from their own insecurity.

They probably believe stupid thinking like "ugh, this person must be making this their entire personality!" essentially a "your sexuality/gender is fine as long as I ignore that you're different".

Thankfully my friends who surrounds me are nice and agree with those rights and others similar rights, but when I see the other people in my school I'm feeling in danger just because people don't get it that it's a right and a normality, they don't give a sh*t about it, I hope things will get better

In the case of my father it's a lack of understanding. He was convinced that gender identity and gender affirming surgery were people intentionally harming themselves.

He is against it more out of concern for other's health, as he views it as a mental illness.

I get wanting to respect opinions, but bigotry isn't an opinion. That's part of why the reasons they give are so nonsensical. They just think it's "gross" or "wrong" but can't say that and lack introspection, so instead they repeat nonsense like "oh but what about people who regret transitioning?"
