I have never understood the hype for Prusa. They based their products on other's work. Claim they invented everything. Quality is hit or miss. All their competitors are cheaper and now definitely a lot better. Their market share plummet, they deliver years late unfinished products. I won't miss them

They were the only one doing CE compliant hardware for long time and they have always been safer than many others. Also they had automation things like bed squareness, self tests or calibration wizard. They also have a full ecosystem with good support. All this made the difference.

My mk3 starting to melt would say otherwise. As I said quality is hit or miss. And I had two bad units. Other brands were not as bad.

I think many could understand that some issues at launch were okay as it was an open source product. But now they are like Bambu or Makerbot, the approach for the customer is different.

It was inevitable, before Bambu all of the Prusa clones never matched up to Prusas quality, reliability and support. Then Bambu came along and they had real competition, they had to evolve to survive. I have 2 X1Cs and I love them, but I will be seriously considering the Core one as my next printer.

I don't buy the competition issue sorry, this problem is way older than Bambu. First serious issues arrived with the MK3 and are actually even present in MK2 but I can be comprehensive. Also they just lost their best argument; what happen if the next Bambu has easy to repair features?

I don't have a problem with the route Prusa is going, I had an MK3, also had a clone I built from scratch(actually it is still in my basement collecting dust). The Bambus are a giant leap forward for the hobby, if Prusa is to exist, they have to change or they are gone.

It's sad to see them going close source but I'm fine with that too. However, all the misleading, attacks, silence instead of explanation, etc. are not okay. They have biaised the meaning of open source in the 3D printing community and that's why I raised my voice. I think I've helped a bit OS.

Open source has its place in the hobby, I don't think that will ever change. That's where the real innovation comes from, someone in their garage making things do what they want them to do.

As a company Prusa has had nothing but praise for peers. Voron & Doron seek the same qualities forged not cast anodized T5 not stamped steel. For 2 years affiliate sales types preach Good Bambu bad Prusa so some kids react defend their purchase. Just print design share

Well I’m sorry you’ve been mistreated. Ima Prusa fan granddad. I love my Voron and Gibson too. The HT90 head is not open source we assume so bottom feeding tech harvesters don’t try to patent it in China. Have you seen Flsun copy of slicer. Jo pays engineers I’m ready for slicer subscriptions tbh

I don't buy the fact the clones are an issue and I've not seen yet a good explanation that proves it. E3D, Bondtech, Slice have patents and they have been cloned. The MK4/XL nozzle have been cloned too. This story with Prusa is much older than you think.

I’m printing some silly Prusa orange frames. One is a signed copy of Josef Prusas book. Need a laser person to print on sheet “ in case of bad print break glass”& a 1929 painting my dad did beside my cherry Les Pal. I love borrowing the Bambu at the shop printing 2 colour Asa Doron parts

I started with a 2.5 had a farm of 9 MK3S+ consumed 80k of Asa printing modular units in a mesh on a grand. Broke every part on a Prusa twice. Added Voron cause I couldn’t get an XL. My village idiot is a Flsun just gutted it BTT, Phaetus, LDO to the rescue. I don’t use pla, Marine parts. Excited 😆

It's a fun project and I like what the dev does but to be honest I don't think you will have a lot of improvement. CoreXY isn't the big speed improvement many could think, it's mostly for a smaller footprint, easier to enclosure and better for some automation tasks. If you look to ⤵️

improve your print quality and speed then look at BearExxa V2 and add a raspi with Klipper. Nothing more is needed.
Btw, CoreXY has very long belts and the motors have to work in pair, this is not ideal for reliability, quality and even speed. There are better solution like Markforged motion.

Ultimately, I need to eventually at least replace my bed. I have one of the original MK3 beds with soldered leads. I feel like I'm living on borrowed time.

Less bed cable flex and space efficiency were the main reasons I liked core XY. But I guess you trade one set of issues for another.

Idk why the attacks happened. I am sad it’s not OSHW anymore and was worried when the Buddy based printers started showing up and the OSHW logo was removed. I still prefer them to other companies though, especially data collectors like Bambu.

I would agree but I also take a step back regarding data. With the Prusa attitude for years, the fact they become close source even on software side and have weird approach of licensing on Printables makes all this very questionable. And now Printables is integrated into PrusaSlicer.

The next Bambu could also be easier to repair. They already have a store full of parts, even parts for side projects. So the only difference would be ethic and features. Ethic is questionable on both sides and X1C has more features than Core One.

Bambu logs were decrypted. They collect local WiFi info (not just the owner’s) and collect the most recent model printed. They flat out lied about what they take. I will not support that BS.

Can’t say I recall, but they literally ship printers to all their customers, so that data was freely given to them. Was this a public map with accurate locations or was it more a marketing thing?
