Weirdly, the leadership hasn't even communicated to us the brute fact that the President of the United States threatened to arrest additional Columbia students? Like I can see a (wrong) case for not condemning it, but not even mentioning it is just deeply odd
I *hope* that there's currently a daylong emergency meeting among higher leadership, comms, and the board of trustees for a comprehensive response to everything, and that the silence is just a determination to wait until that comprehensive response is done and ready.
That is also my longshot hope, but I fear it's a pretty deep institutional incompetence/animosity story in fact. Here are the last few emails we've gotten, which you might find interesting.
tbh we have bingo cards we use to gamify the emails at this point. It's been months of talking about "values" and not saying what they actually are; which is a heavy part of my skepticism that any organized response is coming. Just a deeply negative signal for thoughtfulness
