Don't get me started on trying to figure out where the actual data is for OneNote. Everything is a freaking shortcut on OneDrive.

Yeah, the only way I actually found where my OneDrive files really lived was basically showing all hidden directories, then sorting the directories by size, until I found one that was the right size. It was nested many many folders deep.

Good suggestion.

I transferred my files via the OneDrive app, I believe, and it was painfully slow. (University got rid of their OneDrive storage, so I had to move my OneNote data or lose 6 years of notes.)

I've found the cloud convenient in terms of moving work between work and home, where I might have a bunch of files associated with a project where I don't want the number of versions to grow and grow, but I have increasing concerns about the safety and security of the data.

I go to OneDrive, and it's set to "not keep copies on computer", but only work from the cloud. So I unclick that, and it starts downloading all the files (on the order of 200 Gb), which were ALREADY on the computer. I swear I will scream if suddenly all my OneDrive files are doubled (2/n)

with 2 versions. The whole point of OneDrive seems to be to work across multiple devices, yet it works so badly when a new device is introduced. And I've read enough SciFi (and lived long enough in an area with bad utilities) to know keeping everything only on the cloud is a bad idea. (3/3)
