I have been reading Maine Senator Peleg Sprague’s 6 hour speech on the senate floor opposing Cherokee removal, given in April 1830. He lost big time. He was right.

We need some fiery New England orator in the Senate to say all the right things even though they will never be in power ever again. Something from the 19th Century. History will vindicate them.
