One final archival trip for my project: to see an unbelievably priceless manuscript book containing many poems by Ojibwe poet Jane Johnston Schoolcraft (1800-1842), including a lyric I write about, “On the Doric Rock, Lake Superior.” At the Abe Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, IL.
