I didn't know that and frankly I would be shocked if we could possibly have good stats on it. But also I've gotten the impression a lot of trans men would like to use their uterus? No idea on numbers, just more than I would have thought given what I thought I knew 10-20 years ago.

Okay, actually gaming this out, the only known successful uterus transplant to my knowledge is a cis natal woman to an otherwise infertile cis natal woman she was very closely related to (sister). One huge advantage is that the donor didn't have to die, she was just done having kids.

I have been assuming, but should check, that part of the reason it worked is they attached the donor uterus to otherwise functioning female reproductive system (fallopian tubes, ovaries) so the rest of pregnancy was ~normal

so in the trans men case, a question would be is whether the uterus transplant + presumably HRT and some sort of donor embryo would be enough, do we (them, the doctors) know enough about what is going on there?

There are ongoing trials for doing this, but IIRC the donors they're looking for must have already given birth.

I think as currently written the ethical compact for uterine transplants forbids any trans women participating. Though it does bring up my other pet peeve about news coverage of this stuff, people assuming pelvic tilt for trans women is the same as cis men

I know a couple trans guys who’ve had to get abortions unexpectedly, but I don’t think I’ve met any who’ve had biological kids after transitioning, and I know quite a few
