Keeping it non-violent generally brings the cops and military around (see Romania). One thing the agents provocateurs did in Nicaragua in 2018 was kill a cop to get things rolling and hand out mortaros and black powder charges for shooting rocks or scrap metal at cops and pro FSLN demonstrators.

Ortega and the military pulled those under their command off the street, and the opposition attacked at least one police station and murdered cops who were obeying Ortega's order to stay in barracks. In my neighborhood, ambulances passed my house four times after the mortaros came in to play.

The kids were told that the mortaros would protect them. Nope, attack people who have access to sniper rifles and tanks and things can get very ugly when your defense weapon leaves a trail of burning gunpowder pointing back to you.
