Yeah I'm more familiar with Huskisson Street - I had mates who lived there, and some in Gambier Terrace, so spent a lot of time between the two. Gorgeous houses, pretty run down back in the 70s but huge, so very popular for cheap house-shares at the time, especially among musicians!
Yes! I lived there late eighties but it was cheap as chips. My landlady was Beryl Williams. I felt very bohemian. I think I paid £17pw for a large studio flat. I don’t know why I ever left. Chilly, mind.
Yep. chilly even in summer. As long as we had lights and could play records, nothing else mattered. The only food I remember being around was Puffed Wheat, and cold spaghetti hoops - very bohemian 😁 Age 19 in 1977, we didn't care - it still felt very grand, mainly because those houses WERE grand!
