I could understand the grief if it were forced onto the player but you literally have to go out of your way to use these special cards.

These crossovers are free, it's a win-win for all parties. The main game already has so much care put into it, folks acting like this taints it somehow is silly...

I also personally would feel these alternate face card skins would be a lot less obnoxious if they weren't your only options for alternate art. Perhaps in a world where you can pick from a handful of alternate designs, and then some IP jerking off, it'd feel less pointless.

flipping the topic on its head: AC brotherhood contains a crossover with MGS4. you could probably argue that including a sci fi cyborg costume ruins the setting of a historical italy but no one does because it doesnt matter. bonuses are fun and optional, and games have always done this stuff
