I think what it reveals is how much of the political class is middle class in origin or aspiration. The center-left is dominated by the “Brahmin left” (Pickett), or the Professional Managerial Class/PMC (Ehrenreich) & on the right, the “merchant right, “populist right” or petit bourgeoisie is strong

Both groups need funding from the ruling class, and their/our interest in the working class is by turns paternalistic, or motivated by a “fear of falling”. Contemplating this, I’m now listening to Vivek Chibber on how to support true working class politics (even though I’m solidly PMC/educated)
